Overhauling The PLC Website Leads to Increased Leads

Peninsula Land & Capital, Inc is a commercial real estate investment and operations firm in the California Bay Area. Who specializes in acquiring and operating office and industrial properties while also seeking to add value to their portfolio using their dedicated in-house leasing, construction and property management teams.
Goals
Peninsula Land and Capital was looking for three key things:
- Redesign their website to maintain market competitiveness
- Enhance their web presence
- Get their office and industrial properties found in search
- Replace their real estate listings syndication platform
Challenges
Could Not Display Properties Properly
The company was experiencing difficulty adding new properties onto their website. Their process for doing so like most commercial real estate companies did not fit the level of specificity and scale they would need to manage multiple properties or spaces on a daily basis to achieve long term success.
Wanted to Get Rid of Listing Syndication Platform
Their commercial real estate listings platform added extra work, and cost into maintaining their web presence by having to display their properties via a third party solution. This also created limitations with styling listing.
Properties Did Not Show Up on Google
A common pitfall of real estate syndication platforms is how they display properties. The issue lies in a key piece of code called an < iframe > < /iframe >. This line of code renders anything contained inside of it to not be seen by Google. In the case of commercial real estate this means that properties will not show up on the search engine. So, if you have been asking yourself the head-banging question of “why don’t my properties show up on Google for my website?” An < iframe > is the likely cause. There is a solution which we will dive into later on.
Slow Website Loading Time
A websites loading time is impacted by various different things, the main culprits are: core web vitals, unminified Javascript and CSS.
Core web vitals is comprised of three key metrics largest contentful paint, interaction to next paint and layout shift. Here are some examples of these things:
Largest Contnetful Paint: (images, graphics, gifs, videos)
Interaction to next paint (some type of interaction such as clicking a button, or tapping on a screen)
Layout shift (when a screen moves in any direction after loading an image, video or other element)
All of these issues contribute to a slow loading website which harms Google rankings.
Bad User Design and Un-modern colors
The original website had very poor user design and un-modern colors. Navigating the website proved difficult which ment users would also have a hard time finding the property they were looking for. This was compounded by dark, dreary colors which made it difficult to see text on the screen while also making the website look incredibly old.
What We Did
In order to archive our clients desired result we took multiple steps to ensure we were aligned with their goals. Here are some of the main highlights of their commercial real estate web design project.
1. Established a look and feel
Before a website can be built it is important to establish a look and feel. The pre-work done here helps establish how the site should be built as well as any design considerations that need to be taken into account. Peninsula Land and Capital wanted to have their website with a specific layout and feel. The Cindtoro web development team designed the site to the exact look and feel that fit their desired goal.
2. Created custom functionality to input properties reliability
Since PLC was looking to switch their real estate listings platform the Cindtoro team had to create a replacement. We built a custom backend system they could use to input AND display properties reliably and consistently.
3. Developed A Searchable Properties Map
PLC also wanted a custom properties map that was searchable. We created the custom functionally they were looking for with the help of the Cindtoro development team .
4. Compliant Data Collection Practices
Since the old PLC website did not have any advanced data collection abilities. We implemented secure and compliant data collection practices to better track the efforts from our digital ads team for the ads we manage for them.
Results
The end result is nothing short of amazing. The Cindtoro team was able to created a custom commercial real estate website to their exact specifications. PLC was able to replace their real estate listings platform while still being able to successfully add and remove properties as they wished with the help of the new backend internal system. In addition, due to the property input system their properties started to appear in Google Search. Finally, the advanced tracking capabilities made it so we could enhance our current advertising efforts which lead to an increased ROI. The client continues to work with Cindtoro for further website refinement and advanced features as well as for digital advertising.
